Prof. Dr. Emin Özmert, lisans öncesi öğreniminin ardınan Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi tamamlayarak tıp doktoru unvanı almıştır. İhtisasını ise yine aynı Fakültenin Göz Kliniğinde tamamlayarak Göz Hastalıkları Uzmanı olmuştur.
Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinde 1989 yılında doçent ve 1995 yılında profesör olmuştur. Şu anda Ankara Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalında,“ Vitreus – Retina Birimi Başkanı“ olarak görevini sürdürmekte olup aynı zamanda Özel muayenehanesi'nde hizmet vermektedir.
